online buying guide

Though there are lots of great reasons for shopping online being careful while buying online is very essential. It can be cheaper and it’s certainly more convenient. But taking care few things can help you a lot. Online shopping now a day are very safe due to password protection and anti-fraud programs of companies. But still doing following things helps you a lot.

  • Check the website: You all have heard about online fraud and phishing. You need to be careful and stay away from these sites. You can use latest web browser to avoid this. Address on the address bar also gives you the information if the site is secure or not. The web address that starts with //https is secure. And if it starts with http and without ‘s’ than it might not be secure.
  • Check the store: If you’re not familiar with an online store, there are a few signs you can look for first – an email address and a phone number of someone you can speak to. it’s a good idea to call or mail the store and check things out before buying something.
  • Check the seller: Some retailers often use classified ads and auction sites to sell online. If you have problems, your legal rights with these sites may not be the same as they would be if you were dealing with a company. So try to look for things that tell you you’re buying from someone genuine – they’re prepared to tell you when your items are being posted, how much the postage will be, look for their feedback ratings, things like that.
  • Third party payment: Paypal and Googlecheckout are very popular ways of using a third party to make a payment when you’re shopping online. You pay them, and then they pay the retailers, so you don’t have to give out any of your card details direct. However, it’s a good idea to check their terms and conditions, because sometimes the protection you receive isn’t the same as paying yourself.
  • Password protection: when you register for a new site and don’t always give your regular username and password. Doing this, if it turns to be a fraud than they will only get username and password of only on e account.
  • Check delivery and return policies: this is one of the most important things that you should know about when it comes to online shopping. How is it delivered? What shipping companies are the sellers using and when will it be delivered? You should also ask if its possible that what incase the goods turns out to be a damaged piece or not the one you actually ordered.
  • Save your records and check the status: you should always know what and when you bought the goods and items and what did it cost you. When your credit card statement comes your record and the statement should always match.
